Company · About

Built by engineers. Owned by no one but ourselves.

Media Press has supplied metadata and visual assets to the world's video services since 1995. We are an independent, privately owned company that has spent three decades treating metadata as an engineering problem, not a clerical one. No outside investors, no acquired patchwork of systems: one company, built in one direction, for thirty years. That is why the largest broadcasters, operators and streaming platforms still rely on us today.

Heritage

Thirty years in one industry

We started in 1995, when an electronic programme guide was a novelty and most metadata still moved on paper. We have worked through every shift since, and each time the industry changed shape, we had already built for what came next.

  1. 1995 The first EPGs metadata still moved on paper
  2. 2000s The move to digital guides go electronic
  3. 2010s The arrival of VOD catalogues, not just schedules
  4. 2010s The rise of streaming discovery at scale
  5. Today Fragmentation into FAST hundreds of channels, looped
  6. Next Whatever comes next already building for it

That continuity is rare in this field. Newer entrants began after streaming already existed; they have never had to carry a client through a full generational change. We have done it repeatedly. The formats, platforms and delivery standards will keep changing, and a partner who has absorbed thirty years of those changes is a partner who will absorb the next one too.

What sets us apart

Engineered, whole, and independent

01

Engineering is our DNA

Most metadata companies grew out of editorial desks. We grew out of engineering. From the first day, software and systems came first, and editorial built on top of them, never the other way round. Editorial-first companies struggle when the industry demands automation, scale and integration, because those are engineering problems. We were built to solve them.

02

One system, built in one direction

Our platform was not assembled by stitching together companies we bought. We built it ourselves, over thirty years, as a single coherent system, because the same engineers built every module. A platform assembled from acquisitions carries the seams of every system it absorbed, and the client feels those seams at integration time. Ours has none.

03

Independent, answerable only to clients

Media Press is 100% privately owned. No financial investors, no growth-equity backers, no outside shareholders measuring us by the quarter. When the people who own the company are the people building it, the client's needs set the priorities, not a return target or an exit timeline. It is why we still hold client relationships measured in decades, not deal cycles.

Where we're strongest

Trusted by the largest, in the hardest integrations

We work for some of the biggest names in media and entertainment, the kind of organisations that accept nothing below the highest standard. What keeps them with us is rarely the easy work. It is the complex integrations: connecting our data to systems that were never designed to talk to each other, meeting strict delivery specifications and SLAs, scaling a roll-out across dozens of markets at once. Complicated integration is where we are strongest, because thirty years of engineering-first work is exactly what it takes.

Origin

A company built by one conviction

Media Press was founded by Krzysztof Cechnicki, on a simple idea: that the media industry needed metadata built with the rigour of software, not the habits of a newsroom.

Krzysztof Cechnicki
I started Media Press because the industry was treating metadata as paperwork, when it was really an engineering problem. We have stayed private so that we could keep building it that way: patiently, in one direction, answerable to the people who use it rather than to anyone else.
Krzysztof Cechnicki Founder

That conviction is still the company's centre of gravity today, unchanged by investors or acquisitions, because there have been none.

What it means for you

What this means for you

You get a partner who has seen the industry change many times and built for each change in advance. A partner whose own engineering, not a patchwork of acquired systems, handles the integrations others cannot. And a partner whose independence means your needs, not an investor's, decide what we build next.
